A young person has been selected to be part of the event. He will be mentored and fly the race. This person aspires to be a pilot but needs a great deal of support to make his dreams come true. Yes, Aviamation, Inc events include Make a Dream Come True for a young person.

THE CLASSES:
Handicap racing runs simultaneously alongside the Sport League classed timed competition.
This will be the first time since 2007 that there is a national handicap race open to both men and women.
Pilots will be able to double their fun and rewards with racing in two classes if desired. One entry fee covers both Handicap and Sport League classes.

HANDICAP RACING is open to Planes with the ability to carry a check pilot who has full access to all insturments and controls in the aircraft. Sadly, single seat planes do not qualify as well as most tandems. Pilots MUST perform a handicap flight prior to the event and forward all data to Scorer by June 20, 2018, no exceptions. Handicap Validation Flights will be flown June 22 and 23, 2018 as needed and must be scheduled with the race before arrival. Validation flights require a check pilot who must also be scheduled Note: We are unable to handicap TURBINE powered aircraft. We do handicap turbo/supercharged aircraft.
HANDICAP RACING has the pilot racing against his or her own handicap speed which equalizes the entire field.
Winning depends on the pilot’s skill in flight planning and airmanship. The handicap speed is the top speed of their aircraft. The speed scored on the race is then compared to the handicap speed and winners determined by the best speed over or in some cases under when headwinds factor in. Example: Handicap speed 185 and race speed 189 equals a plus 4. Headwinds will result in minus scores so the lowest of the minus is the best speed.
All planes that have been handicapped will automatically run in their Sport League Classes.
All racing is done at the same time on the same courses.
SPORT LEAGUE CLASSES are open to all pilots and all fixed wing propeller driven aircraft. Classes are divided into three categories: Experimental, Factory and Heavy Metal. Classes are determined by engine induction, single engine, twin engine, horse power, cubic inch displacement and gear configuration.

All flying is in strict adherence to all FAR’s and is daylight VFR only.
Race launch in speed order, fastest first.

AWARDS:
Awards are presented in all Sport League classes in addition to Overall Top Awards.
Handicap will present trophies. Lowest Scoring in Handicap will receive free entry in 2019 event.
Trophies too the Fastest in Experimental, Factory and Heavy Metal categories.
