The 2014 Southern Nationals course is 146.08 NM, 168.1 SM in length, with six turns. This course will run counter-clockwise beginning at the departure end of runway 27 at Greenwood County Airport, KGRD.

On the start: If the winds dictate a Western departure, the clock will start as you pass the departure end of runway 27. DO NOT turn on course until you have passed the end of the runway.
If the winds dictate an Eastern departure then you will launch, climb to pattern altitude and make close left-hand traffic. DO NOT CUT OFF THE RACER IN FRONT OF YOU!
On downwind, just before reaching the end of runway 27 make a left turn to 220 degrees on course. The clock will start as you pass over the departure end of runway 27 at no greater than 1,000 AGL.
As you pass over the runway call "Race xx Start" on 122.8 to verify the start order is still intact, and to make sure the timers get the start time associated with the correct aircraft.
Departing the airport traffic area, switch to 123.45.
