Big Sky Air Race III

The 2013 Big Sky Air Race will be held at Townsend airport (8U8) on Saturday, July 6th.

Race briefing 0900(mandatory), Race launch 1000.

SCHEDULE
Friday July 5, 2013
Meet and Greet 5:00 to ??? Early registration available
Simple BBQ or something will be available while people prep planes or just want to hang out.
Shuttles available locally (hotels, food or ?)

Saturday July 6, 2013
0700-0845 Registration
Before 0900, all race aircraft need to be ready for start.
0900 MANDATORY Pilot’s Briefing
1000 Race Start
1100 Racer lunch supplied by the Gator Shack and BSAR. Guests lunch available for small donation. We’ll need a head count for planning.
As soon as possible… AWARDS. Then hang out as long as you want.

Lodging
Camping is available on the grass next to the pilots lounge (couch, bathroom and sink, no shower). OR motels below.
Townsend: Mustang Motel, 412 Front Street (406)266-3491. They have 6 rooms blocked out but it’s the busy summer season so they will only hold them until Monday June 24th. Tell them you are with the Air Race. Nothing fancy but prices start at $40.
Three Forks: Lewis and Clark Motel & Café, 510 S Main St, Three Forks, (406) 285-3474. SARL Preferred, Certified Bed, Board and Watering hole in 2011. 20nm south of 8U8
Helena(KHLN) 23nm northwest has normal offerings of larger towns.
TRANSPORTATION
Limited courtesy vehicles. If you need a rental car, we can figure something out to get one here.

THE RACE
This is a Sport Air Racing League Championship Point Sanctioned Event
Pilots MUST BE LEAGUE MEMBERS to participate.
1. Annual League Membership $50
Becoming a Member: join here and pay online
2. Provisional Membership $10 (One race, one time)
Pay at event check in/registration, cash or check only
RACE ENTRY FEE: $35 Payable cash or check only at Registration/check in. Includes 1 T-shirt, and lunch on race day.

Current regular members…click on I am racing link, fill in race number, name and email address in case we need to get in touch with you. You are instantly entered.
Non-members…Click on Non-Member link, fill in form and pay fees at event.
Flying is VFR ONLY in strict adherence to all FAR’s.
Insurance is required

RACE NUMBERS are licensed annually to regular League members. Provisional members may use any unlicensed number they wish.
If the last few numbers or letters of your N# are not licensed these may be used.
Display of Race Numbers on Aircraft is encouraged but not mandatory.
If race numbers are on aircraft they should be well defined and 18 inches high.
Displaying numbers on tail, under wings or on fuselage are most effective and positioning will depend on type of aircraft being flown.
ALL PARTICIPANTS (pilots and passenger(s)) must sign a Release of Liability Form at check in.
