Start the racing season at Spartanburg, SC with two days of fun, competition and camaraderie and finish in Winter Haven, FL at the doorstep of Sun n Fun. The 3rd annual Sunshine Express will be partnered with the first BootLegger Challenge. A rousing good time and lots of competition awaits. Racers can now test their planes after the long winter. With two air races there are twice the points awaiting racers in one weekend.

A CHARITABLE EVENT
This event is produced by Aviamation, Inc an all volunteer charitable tax exempt corporation. These events will be benefiting Able Flight. Able Flight provides flight training and aircraft for handicapped individuals.
Just imagine what it means to a person with that passion for flight to have it out of reach due to a handicap.
Now, it can be a reality. Dreams do come true.

It all starts off with arrivals being welcomed on Friday, March 31st with registration available and an evening meet and greet at Spartanburg Downtown Memorial Airport, KSPA. You will have had the time of your life after testing yourself with the BootLegger Challenge on Saturday April 1st and flying the 3rd annual Sunshine Express 400 Air Race from Spartanburg, SC to Winter Haven, FL. All this while being able to support Able Flight. Such a win win experience.

BOOTLEGGER CHALLENGE
Saturday the fun begins with the Bootlegger Challenge brought to you by . This is a three event challeng with some very substantial bragging rights as well as trophies and prize for those who emerge victorious. It starts with the name of distillery . First you will show your manual dexterity with the timed Next the pilots take to the skies for a Sport League Sanctioned race of 80 miles. This is a SARL point race and will have all the class awards as well as be part of the Challenge. Sport League racers will be able to go for twice the points this weekend. After lunch the intrepid contestants will head to the Speed Factory Indoor Carting track to see who is as fast with four wheels as they are with wings and a prop. When all the racing is concluded, pilots flying the Sunshine Express Race on Sunday April 2nd will gather for a mandatory briefing. Following the briefing its time for the awards dinner for the day’s events.

SUNSHINE EXPRESS 400 It will be an early start Sunday April 2nd for the 3rd annual Sunshine Express 400 to Winter Haven, Fl. There is a no penalty stop available mid way at Moulterie, GA. Once crossing the finish line at Gilbert Field, KGIF, Winter Haven, FL you will be at the door step of Sun n Fun. There will be an awards dinner late that afternoon.

SPORT AIR RACING LEAGUE
The racing events are Sport League sanctioned championship point events. League rules will be followed and points awarded. Awards and prizes for all classes and Top Speed in category as well as Slowest aircraft and other special awards will be presented. You must be a League member to race. One day one race provisional membership available $10.

ENTRY
Entry forms are available on the following web sites. Enter on this web site.
You must be a Sport Air Racing League member to participate in the air races. Non members may purchase a one time one event provisional membership for $10. Annual League membership is $50 and licenses you your race number exclusively for the year.

ENTRY DEADLINE March 14, 2017. To be included in the Official race program you must enter by this deadline.

HOTELS & ROOM BLOCK DEADLINE
Participants are responsible for their own hotel reservations and costs. You may stay at any hotel you wish.

A room block has been arranged at the Marriot, Spartanburg, SC. For the nights of March 21, and April 1.
The deadline to make reservations for this room block is March 17, 2017. If staying here your room block is for Sunshine Express 400 Air Race. The room block gives you a substantially discounted rate.
